Geeky Tumblr Themes

I Might be a Geek

Base of operations for my vlog/videogame review/Let's Play show!

I wanted to run this on tumblr as I really enjoy connecting with people, it's not just about me making videos, I want to find people with similar interests! It's just not the same on Youtube, y'know? <3

Pokemon theme song - 8 bit version!

So I wrote this up tonight, it wasn’t too hard to get everything into the synthesiser, but I always struggle with little things like percussion ;_;. Youtube version with download link coming soon, hope you all dig it!

Sort of trying new things with reviews, always trying to improve so let me know what you think! :)

‘Tis the season to be jolly lock yourself away with a bunch of lovely indie games. That’s right, another Humble Bundle is available! So far it’s looking to be one of the best yet. The games include Uplink, Darwinia, Defcon, Multiwinia along with some nifty tech demos.
Pay more than the current average and you’ll also be given Aquaria and Crayon Physics deluxe. You can’t possibly go wrong here! And remember, the money goes both to charity and the developers.

Burnt offerings: I like to think I’m at least a little bit in-the-know about game...

I like to think I’m at least a little bit in-the-know about game reviews. I usually just read them to kill time and I get a kick out of trying to do my best with presenting fairly objective indie game reviews over on my youtube channel.

Something I’ve been noticing lately is that the general gaming audience seems to think that anything below 8.5/10 means a game is not worth playing. This was really brought to my attention (more so than before) today when I read IGN’s “Five most dissapointing games” list. Lord of the Rings: War in the North and Kirby’s Return to Dream Land both scored 7.0 and 7.5 respectively but still somehow were shoved in the bag with the “bad” games.

Personally, if I think a game looks like something I would enjoy, even if it averages about 6, I’ll still play it. Reviews are nice and all, but this mindset is ridiculous.

What do you think? Do you pay attention to reviews? Have you really enjoyed games that most critics didn’t? Will you play anything below a rating of 8?

Reblogging from my main tumblr account because I realised I probably should have just posted this here instead :P

Anomaly: Warzone Earth is on sale today for $3.40 on Steam. It’s an unusual take on the tower defence genre, so much so that I struggle to even call it tower defence. Well worth the sale price!
So what are you waiting for? :D
